| The mediaeval church in the small market town of Lemvig in north-west Jutland is strongly characterized by a comprehensive restoration/rebuilding carried out in 1933-35 by
Hother Paludan. Most of the church furnishings were made between 1768 and 1794 by the local carpenter, Zinders Machholm, in a rustic rococo style. The paintings on the reredos as well as the panels on the pulpit and gallery are however of more recent date, executed in 1977-88 by Bodil Kaalund. Throughout the ages there have been altogether 5 organs in Lemvig Church. No. 1 was probably a second-hand instrument erected in c.1626. No. 2 was built in 1772 by Amdi Worm and its façade was made by Zinders Machholm. No. 3. - dating from 1862 - was built by Johan Andreas Ohrt, no. 4 by Th. Frobenius & Co. in 1935 with a historically orientated façade designed by Hother Paludan, and finally no. 5, the present organ, was built in 1999 by P. G. Andersen & Bruhn behind the façade of 1935. |
